We ask that our volunteers simply share our same passion and bring with them their own unique skill sets. Other specialized training and accessibility can be provided as needed.

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Volunteer Greeter

Become a volunteer greeter to welcome clients to our satellite clinic in Holland, MI

The volunteer greeter will welcome clients and provide them with needed paperwork and seat them in the lobby.

Time Commitment: Once or twice a month. As the clinic operates once or twice a month at the office or Retina Specialists of Michigan in Holland at 1362 S Point Place.


  • The ideal volunteer enjoys a quiet office setting and can bring a book, knitting materials or other materials to help pass the time between client appointments

File Assistant & Clerical Specialist

Volunteer as a File Assistant & Clerical Specialist! Volunteers are needed to assist agency staff by filing folders, reports, and miscellaneous documents, as well as miscellaneous clerical duties.

Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.


  • Knowledge of filing principles including ability to alphabetize
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to operate a copier and postage meter
  • Willingness to learn.

Client Service Telephone Follow-up Specialist

Volunteer as a Client Service Telephone Follow-Up Specialist!

Volunteer Specialist will make phone calls to clients and support group participants. During your phone calls you will make sure our services have met others needs, and to see if additional services would be useful.

Time Commitment: As determined between ABVI staff and volunteer.


  • Ability to use a telephone
  • Friendly and outgoing
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people
  • Willingness to follow established procedures.
  • Respect for privacy and client confidentiality.
